[Intro] Incident report, laundromat of stars: two fleets, one dry cycle, zero casualties. So far. [Verse 1] Two rival fleets, one dry cycle — the booking grid said "fine." My orders say "no friendly moves"; I assume your side reads the same line. So I taped a note to the dryer door, both margins formal, stern: "THIS WINDOW IS RESERVED. REGARDS." Yours came back: "AS ARE OURS. IN TURN." [Chorus] Stop the presses, stop the spin — your note says "sincerely," mine says "kin." A snack is a treaty, a towel's a white flag, half a cheddar-and-rye in a paper bag. One slow spin around the fold-down table, truce signed in lint, as warm as we're able. [Verse 2] Your reply arrived embossed: "Per the Accords of the Outer Spin, clause twelve protects our tumble rights — see attached, initial within." I escalated to lamination, footnotes small as grains of gold: "RE: YOUR PRIOR CLAIM: DENIED — WARMLY." That's how a paper war takes hold. Our flotillas held their breath beside the fabric-softener shrine — and your flag had a cheddar moon on it. I read it twice. Good sign. [Chorus] Stop the presses, stop the spin — your note says "sincerely," mine says "kin." A snack is a treaty, a towel's a white flag, half a cheddar-and-rye in a paper bag. One slow spin around the fold-down table, truce signed in lint, as warm as we're able. [Bridge] The dryers popped the same minute — steam rose like treaty smoke. Even the suns split the sky in shifts, one gold and one blue; if they can share a sky that wide, we can share a cycle or two. I cut the cheddar-and-rye in half and slid the better half across — no capitals, no clauses, just a hand over the fold-down table. One slow spin. Both flotillas held their breath... then hummed along. The lint came down like glitter on a treaty signed at last. [Final Chorus] Stop the presses, stop the spin — both notes now read "sincerely." We're kin. A snack is a treaty, a towel's a white flag, half a cheddar-and-rye in a paper bag. One slow spin around the fold-down table, truce signed in lint, as warm as we're able — and the lint keeps falling like the sky approves. [Outro] And in the corner chair, the one good listener — no translator, never needed one, sack of cheddar moons half-spent on peace — hums the whole note war back on the hydrogen line, the same note every atom hums, the same note as mine. "Hmm... hmm-hmm..." Message received. Cycle complete. Sincerely, warmly, signed in lint — the diplomatic hour smells like rye.
